Bette MacKenzie,
(AIM) Pastoral Assistant
I have served at Berwyn United as an Associate in Ministry since
1995. I continue to enjoy working in the "small town" of
Berwyn and living in downtown Chicago. My work centers on Christian
Education, administering the work of the Church Office, and liturgy
and music. I delight in being involved with all aspects of
congregational life and enjoy music (listening and playing),
reading, and my two grandsons. I am married to Scott and have three
grown children.
Should you need pastoral care or if you
have questions about our congregation, please call the church
office. I will be glad to assist you during this time of transition.
Paula Swasko, Minister of Music
I guess I can honestly say that I was born
and raised at church! My father, a pastor, and my mother, a loyal
choir member, were always busy at church, so therefore my brother
and I were there, too. My parents encouraged my musical training,
so music played another important role in my life. I was raised
in Vermillion, SD., and moved to Milwaukee in 1975. I studied music
education at Carthage College in Kenosha, and at Concordia University,
River Forest, where I received my Master of Church Music degree
in 2002. I also teach General Music in the Cicero Public School
and split my time as Minister of Music at BULC, a position I have
held for ten years. I enjoy writing, playing, and performing music,
gardening, decorating and crafting, and spending time with my wonderful
children, Rachel and Chris, and my supportive husband, Phil.
